Annual Report - 2021 - Prima Finance and Investment
Mr. Henri Kouam
Chairman's Statement
We will remember 2021 as another year inextricably linked to the pandemic. While the arrival of the vaccine was the best news of the year, the emergence of new variants prevented the end of the pandemic and, despite signs of recovery, the economic impact continues to affect the most vulnerable families and businesses of all sizes and in all sectors. In this context, at PFI, we focused on contributing to the economic recovery of families, entrepreneurs, and social enterprises.
However, microloans for businesses remain a cornerstone of our work, and in 2021, we financed over 6,000 projects that created jobs, wealth, and well-being in the region. A number of these projects were genuine successes despite the challenging environment, which encourages us to continue our efforts to bring more and more stories of personal achievement to a happy ending. 2021 was also a year of growth in financing facilities aimed at socially impactful sectors such as health, education, and the social economy.
This highlights the success of the path we have taken to position ourselves as a bank specializing in socially impactful financing and achieving the goals set out in our 2019-2021 Strategic Plan. In a short period of time, we have succeeded in solidifying our position as a reference point in socially impactful financing. We will continue our efforts to further expand this vision, without forgetting the considerable work that PFI is doing in the field of microfinance, where we are a leading institution in Europe. However, these successes would not have been possible without the involvement of investors supporting our work in entrepreneurship and microfinance. It is a team effort, a collective achievement in which PFI continues to demonstrate its inherent social conscience and commitment to the most disadvantaged individuals and groups. This has led some of the most prestigious European institutions in the sector to endorse and promote PFI's work to generate wealth, progress, and well-being in the region. 2022 brings new challenges for the future, particularly with the merger with Bankia. This transaction has made PFI a market leader and will undoubtedly enable it to further translate its social commitment into concrete actions.
